to Pines Birding and Nature Trail
to showcase the Coachella Valley
region as a world class bird-watching
destination. Mr. Leuschner will highlight
many of the birds and other wildlife
that you may see along the trail and
answer any questions that you might
have about wildlife viewing in the
Coachella Valley.
Kurt Leuschner is a Professor of
Natural Resources at College of the
Desert, where he teaches courses on
Conservation, Entomology, Birds, GPS
Navigation, and Wildlife Management.
He has a bachelor’s degree in zoology
from UC Santa Barbara and a master’s
degree in wildlife ecology from the
University of Florida.

of President John F. Kennedy
On November 22, 1963, President John
F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.
Fifty years later, the nation honors his
memory and the legacy of his 1,000
day presidency. His Pulitzer Prize-
winning book
Profiles in Courage
will be
the basis of film producer and lecturer
Robert Kline’s
two-day appearance at
the Library. The lectures will focus on
Americans who displayed courage in
the public arena, no matter what the
physical, political, or financial cost was
to them. Mr. Kline will conclude the two-
day event focusing upon the unique
psyche of JFK himself as he faced the
challenges of the Cold War.
