Welcome to the Rancho Mirage Public Library…
Ahhhhh, SUMMER!
There’s a wonderful feeling of “it’s just us” about being year round Desert dwellers as the warmer
(hotter?) days take hold of our schedules and our lives. So it’s time to enjoy summer.
We hope you agree that Summer reading and Summer programming at the Library takes on a
lighter look and feel.
We will screen several films that might seem different or offbeat, but we think they will please
you. Jason Bruecks will bring his intelligent critic’s eye and appreciation to three foreign films:
Rashomon, Forbidden Games,
and
Gate of Hell.
Christopher Perry from the Bijou Cinema in the High Desert will bring us the silent classic,
The Great K & A Train Robbery.
Mr. Perry’s ensemble adds the music and sound effects for the
true silent movie experience.
Concerts? Well a bit less serious in Summer as we welcome
The Red Hot Rhythm Rustlers
for
an evening concert of
Cowboy Music
on Wednesday, August 27 at 7 PM.
Each of our program guides now include a list of Foundation donors and members. Nearly all
of the Library’s events in our busy calendar are funded by the Library Foundation…that means
funded by
you
if you are a Foundation member or donor.
Let’s enjoy the slower pace of Summer. Take a vacation with a good Library book, whether it’s a
hardcopy or an e-book loaded onto a tablet or other electronic device.
If you have children, grandchildren, or are a caregiver for children, please forget that slower pace
mentioned above. Summer is THE season for kids and families at the Library! Every Wednesday
there will be a big event at 4 PM, with a theme of science and discovery.
FIZZ, BOOM, READ
this Summer will find more children than ever reading, learning, and having fun while schools
are closed.
We look forward to your Library visits and we know that when you come, you will find a world of
discoveries, reading, programming, and much more to enjoy at your Library this
Summer
!
