A New Orleans location where the graffiti seems to march right up to READ where it stops and READ takes over.
Welcome to the Rancho Mirage Public Library…
Summer, with lofty temperatures, means a change of pace in the desert. Languid
days, as you know, make Library visits a must.
Much, but certainly not all, of our programming will focus on the
Children’s Summer
Reading Club (SRC)
and all of its events, outlined in detail in this issue of our award-
winning Guide.
The theme this year is “Read for the Win!” which aligns with the 2016 Summer
Olympics in Brazil and most important, celebrates the
Library’s 20th Anniversary
.
The
SRC
keeps kids busy, Monday – Friday, every week from June 20th through August
12th. The full schedule appears on pages 14 – 16 of this program guide.
Everyone
can
participate since there are four age group categories spanning infant years to adult.
For general audiences, especially film fans, the Library will screen a summer-long
series of documentaries on Mondays.
Docu-Mondays
is a tribute to the Desert’s late
documentarian, Joel Hochberg, and just like Joel, these films cover a wide range of
interesting (and surprising) topics.
Plus, we have these three big events for you:
• Saturday, July 30th 10 PM – midnight:
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Midnight
Release Party. Our Community Room will become Hogwarts Great Hall, and there
will be games, crafts, snacks and more!
•

is back in
concert with the Great American Songbook.
• Wednesday, September 21st 7 – 8:

0 PM:

Sizzling Summer days are a good time to take advantage of reading e-books and
e-magazines on our website,
ranchomiragelibrary.org, which you can do from your
home computer or personal device.
