RMPL Programs & Events October - December 2013 - page 9

Presented by the Rancho Mirage Public Library Foundation
October is Boris Karloff month at the Library! This actor, an icon of the horror movie
oeuvre, appeared in over forty silent films and thirty more “talkies” before he was
cast as Mary Shelley’s modern Prometheus in the 1931 film
Frankenstein.
It was
this role that defined his career and ensured many dark and sinister cinematic
appearances.
Frankenstein (1931)
Monday, October 28, 2 – 4 p.m.
Still highly-regarded amongst film critics, this is the horror classic that catapulted
Boris Karloff into stardom!
The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and a Conversation with Sara Karl-
off and Journalist Stacy Davies

about the man behind
the many masks.

Wednesday, October 30, 2 – 4 p.m.
Filmed over 80 years ago, this terrifying classic continues to inspire sequels, spin-
